Hello, I am the sales manager of a satelite comapny (Sonicview Brasil) which utilizes the Free Trade Zone in Montevideo.
Most of our sales are deposited into an account set up in the United States. But as we branch out to new customers in Uruguay my question is would it be best to set up a bank account in Uruguay.
I find most of the customers in Uruguay are smaller accounts and I am curious if it would be easier for them to deposit to a local account in Uruguay?
Any other suggestions on how these customers could make payment within Uruguay would greatly be appreciated.
I am lacking a holistic vision of your business, so my answer strictly apply considering these statements: you are in Uruguay and you want to receive money from Uruguayan customers located across the country. Not sure how you have to consolidate your accounts globally or the volume they pay, but for small business, an inexpensive service available to any local customers in any place in Uruguay is an colectivo or account in Abitab. You can ask about this service in the abitab office in the Free Zone or check it in their website.
Hi Esteban, I sell Sonicview satellite receivers to free shops and small satellite dealers in Montevideo and the border towns of Chuy and Rivera. Typically we use our global account for customers to deposit money. But anything I can do to make it easier for these small dealers and free shops in Uruguay to make deposits is my main goal. I think by opening an account at any local bank you will make your clients happier, since they would avoid hte fees applied on remittance of funds to a foreign bank account.
I've read your customers are mostly located at Chuy and Rivera, so it would be clever to find a bank with branches in both cities. Perhaps BROU (Banco Republica) ?
