One thing all of us expats here in Uruguay have in common is; we all had to decide what to bring and what not to bring.
Some people brought their entire households... others sold everything and came down with a few suitcases (that's what we did)...
Regardless, I think all of us wish we would have brought at least one thing with us which we didn't.
We were pretty thorough on what we brought with us, we posted some essentials in our
blog... But, there are a few things I wish I would have brought with us...
I wish I would have brought my surround sound speakers... New in the US they are around U$S 1,800 (KEF KHT 3005)... Down here, the older model of the same speakers is U$S 3,200 (KHT 2005).
I wish I would have brought guitar amps... I would have bought new and had them converted over for power in the guitar shop. A Marshall JCM 2000 Head is running about U$S 2,000. A 4X12 Celestion Cab is running about U$S 1,400... Don't forget to ad the 22% VAT on top of those prices.
To give you an idea, you can buy a JCM 2000 and a 69 4X12 Celestion Cab together for about U$S 1,400 in the US...
I wish I would have brought some good quality pot holders.
So what do you wish you would have brought?
